For the kid who's not quite big enough for a standard 20 inch
Your child has outgrown their 16 inch, but they look stretched out on a normal 20 and you're not sure they're ready for it. That's the gap the Explosive Mini fills. Same 20 inch wheels, shorter top tube, so a smaller rider can reach the bars comfortably and still have room to grow into the bike rather than out of it in six months.
The low standover height means they can get on and off without a wobble. That does more for a kid's confidence than most parents expect.

Worth knowing about the brakes. The rear is a coaster, which means they stop by pedalling backwards. Kids coming off a balance bike pick it up in minutes. Kids used to hand brakes usually need a ride or two to get used to it.
It generally suits riders somewhere around 7 to 10, but that depends far more on the child than the number. If you can get to the shop, bring them in and let them sit on it. We'd rather they got the right fit than the right age bracket.
